Opener wont open makes clicking noise

Using an older 1/2 hp opener.  Has worked fine for many year, no operating difficulties.  After a big storm, it has stopped working.  When I press the button, it will make a clicking sound once, then again about one second later.  The green light flashes on the back of the motor.  any suggestions?
